A TILE PLACEMENT GAME OF CREATING LANDSCAPES, CLAIMING AREAS, AND GAINING POINTS

Carcassonne is a modern classic tile-placement game based on the award wining game in which the players draw and place a tile with a piece of southern French landscape on it. The tile might feature a city, a road, a cloister, grassland or some combination thereof, and it must be placed adjacent to tiles that have already been played, in such a way that cities are connected to cities, roads to roads, et cetera. The player can then decide to place one of his followers, so called Meeples, on one of the areas on it: on the city as a knight, on the road as a robber, on a cloister as a monk, or on the grass as a farmer. When that area is complete, that meeple scores points for its owner. Each new game is a new experience thanks to the ever-changing landscape.

ENJOY FUN AND TACTICAL GAMEPLAY

During a game of Carcassonne, players are faced with decisions like: "Is it really worth putting my last meeple there?" or "Should I use this tile to expand my city, or should I place it near my opponent instead, making it harder for him to complete his goal and score points?" Since players place only one tile and have the option to place one meeple on it, turns proceed quickly even if it is a game full of options and possibilities.

2 EXPANSIONS: ENLARGE YOUR LANDSCAPE AND OPTIMIZE YOUR POINTS

Thanks to the mini expansions "The River" and "The Abbot", you can embellish your landscape and vary your game to enjoy new ways to play!

Game looks and plays very well. My only real complaint now is that the board does the full replay animation every time you leave and return to the app, even if you just jump to your home screen and back. It would be cool if it would just replay the last turn of pieces to save time. The devs were very quick to respond to my support issue and have resolved the problem with notifications on Android 8.0. Thumbs up for that! Full Review

All in all this is a great game. There are two things that would make it 5 stars in my book. 1. Integration with Facebook so you can invite a specific friend(s) to play against you. 2. Expansion packs. (The abbott and the river are the only two expansions in this app and more expansions would be preferable.) I love that the AI players are smarter than in previous versions. They still aren't quite smart enough. The game is super fun. It is an addictive strategy game. Full Review

Not particularly better than its predecessor. The AI is still poor (I did not notice a significant improvement). I used to prefer the old gfx (clearer interface). The add-ons are unimpressive. Let's hope further addons are being developed. Full Review

Good start, and it shows a lot of promise. Obviously looking forward to additional expansions. Other things that would help usability and/or gameplay: 1) Pinch zoom is not sensitive enough; 2) Would like to be able to zoom out much more to get better overview of full gameboard without excessive scrolling; 3) Crisper 2D graphics with more prominent features (particularly monasteries and gardens) on tiles so they stand out better - perhaps an option to just use legacy 2D artwork? (couldn't care less about 3D); 4) Meeples would also be easier to see if a bit larger; 5) On screen buttons and player/score banners could be a bit smaller to make more space available to see tiles; 6) Ability to disable "auto zooming" during gameplay; 7) Ability to speed up animations; 8) Dead tiles probably shouldn't be shown based on the current tile being played until that tile is committed, especially if remaining tiles list is disabled. Thanks for picking up the Carcassonne banner, it was sad watching it stagnate under Exozet. Glad this is now with a developer who will continue to do something with it! Full Review

This is Carcassonne no doubt about it. The programmers did an excellent job making this an efficient program, it consumes little mobile data, doesn't turn my phone into a mobile heater and still manages to look great. Great job Asmodee. 👍 Full Review

Awesome! One of my favorite apps. Can play as many games as you want. Don't need to wait for energy or anything like that. I love that! Looks great! Beautiful! The AI are smart enough to have a fun game. And I've never seen less that 40 players online. So, there's always a game to play! :) I hope they plan on releasing all of the expansions. That would make it perfect! :) Full Review

Overall it's really good, like a couple of other reviewers have said it would be good if the controls were slightly more sensitive but that's a small issue. I'm a huge fan of the board game so I'm hoping you do additional expansions. Full Review

PLEASE add the ability to stop the constant zooming around the game board. Allow us to control the zoom without being overridden by the next cpu move. We are Android not Apple and can set the preferred layout as and when we would like - I appreciate the toggle of 3D vs birds eye view and the camera toggle but it does not go far enough. The previous version allowed this and so far this is my only complaint. Fix it & 5 stars are yours. I don't play multiplayer due to lack of data reception in the WC! Full Review

Like the new graphics and 3D view vs. the old game. Miss more expansions, but guess they are coming - if I care to buy them AGAIN, as I still have them in the older version. Guess it will depend on price, but so far the prices have been acceptable. Liked the new expansion we got for free by having an Asmodee account. The only thing bothering me is the constant zooming around as the pieces are placed. Would be awesome if there was added an option to turn automatic zooming off. Full Review

I like this version of the game. This version is animated which adds a new dimension. I wish there were more of the expansions added to this game. The one question I have that seems to come up is whether or not you can take over control of a farmyard by having additional farmers in the same yard. I don't think that happens according to the score right now but I wish it did. Otherwise, wonderful game that's quick and to be played locally. Full Review

Based on the times I was able to play I would say that I like this version of Carcassonne, but if you happen to already own the earlier Exozet version I don't recommend this one. This version has less expansions available and the 3d graphics can make it hard to see. I will say that AI is far better in this version than in the Exozet version. The biggest issue I have is that this app force close most of the time. I've tried clearing the data or reinstalling, both work for a limited time and then the issue returns. Since the Exozet version is no longer sold and you want to play Carcassonne then get this but don't sign in with an Asmodee account, it seems to be causing the connection issue. Full Review

Fun game! I got the river add-on but it causes the app to play a river noise constantly which was a bit annoying. Also, it's probably me not understanding the rules, but it highlighted my fields and then gave me zero points for them (felt like a bug) Full Review

The game looks pretty good, but multiplayer is unusable due to a glitch that's preventing me from signing in with my Asmodee Digital account. I submitted a ticket and was told they'll have a fix very soon, but that was several days ago. The app has promise, and I would like to rate it five stars (and I'm willing to change my rating to five stars once my issue is fixed), but I can't in good conscience rate it very high until this issue is fixed. Edit: This issue is now resolved. Multiplayer is amazing in this game! I can't wait for its player base to grow! I have a couple of suggestions for improvement. 1. Add more expansions! 2. Can you add a correspondence mode to facilitate play over several days? Full Review

Need all expansions to be available. The original app allowed more customization. Add random generator for solo play and starting player! The previous app was functional and complete. To compete this app needs to have all the other did and more! Big shoes to fill. Right now you have small feet. Feel I've wasted my money so far. Full Review

(Update) so after a week of emailing the company back and forth looks my online account was deleted because I didn't verify my account. Unfortunately all my stats and rankings were deleted too. I will agree with other users that this app is not ready for prime time. Funny that my account is deleted after my first bad review. Pretty good version. My main problem is getting booted off and trying to reconnect with only 2 minutes left on the timer only to run out of time. I was up by like 60 pts and still lost. (Update) Now I cant log in or change my password. Says non-existent user. Wow. Full Review

I have played another app version of this game (which is my all time favorite board game) probably over a thousand times. I feel like this version is trying too hard. The more intricate graphics and animations slow the game down and make it difficult to decipher. I also much prefer the bird's eye view of the old app to this wonky side, diagonal view. As another reviewer wrote, there are less expansions as well so it's less challenging for a seasoned player. Full Review

The app is clever, but clearly was not ready for primetime when it was released. Among many glitches I've encountered (from lack of internationalization in game names to very unclear iconography), the worst was having the app crash on me moments before I was about to win a game. I had to restart the app, only to find out that it had signed me out. By the time I had signed back in, the "resume" option on the menu was grayed out. I understand that crashes happen, but with a more stable interface this could have been much simpler to fix, and I could have still finished my game. ⭐⭐, but I'm happy to change to five if the major bugs are all fixed. This is a great adaptation of the game and the core controls work really well. Suggestions: 1) It would be helpful if you could zoom out even more in order to see all the tiles. 3) I think meeples could be a bit larger and have better contrast against the field, plus there are times when a farmer is placed right on the edge of a tile which makes it a bit hard for the opponent to realize you actually placed a farmer on the tile. My suggestion would be to place the farmers more centrally on the field and not on the edge. 3) The field button is nice but when one player has the green meeples and he occupies a field along with another person, it looks like it's only occupied by the other persons color because green stripes are almost the same color as the field. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy your version and I'd love to see it evolving. Full Review
